Man charged in fatal crash with Chicago police SUV

One occupant of the suspect's vehicle was ejected from the car and died; both officers are okay

CHICAGO — A Joliet man was charged with vehicular homicide after he drunkenly collided with a police cruiser, killing a passenger in his car while injuring himself, another occupant in the vehicle and two police officers.

Alex Reyes, 24, was charged with reckless homicide, aggravated DUI resulting in death, aggravated DUI resulting in body harm and driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.

Anthony Camarillo, 18, of the 1300 block of South 56th Street, was ejected from the car and died at the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. Camarillo suffered multiple injuries from an automobile collision and his death was ruled an accident, an autopsy determined. Neither of the officers suffered life-threatening injuries, police said.
