NEW JASPER, Ohio — Video has been released of a graphic collision between an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper and a couple on a motorcycle on August 17.

The dash cam from Officer Jacob Daymon’s cruiser shows him quickly approaching a motorcycle ridden by Amy and Corey Waldman, then rear-ending the bike, causing it to crash to the ground, according to WDTN.

Amy, who was riding on the back of the bike, was flown to a nearby hospital, and her husband was taken by ambulance.

Daymon backed his vehicle up after the crash and used it to block the lane where the accident occurred.

A family member told WDTN the Waldmans weren’t doing well, but credited their helmets for saving their lives. The couple forgave Daymon the day after the crash.

Following an attorney’s advice, Daymon has declined to speak about the incident. He remains on duty at the Xenia Post, where he was named Trooper of the Year in 2012, according to the report.
