DETROIT- A man who authorities said escaped police custody at a hospital, stole one of their guns and commandeered an ambulance was charged Thursday with more than a dozen felonies.
He was arrested again later that night about five miles from the hospital, Detroit police said. The officer's weapon was recovered.
Riley was arraigned on two counts of armed robbery, carjacking, four counts of kidnapping, disarming a police officer, escape, assault and weapons charges. He was being held in lieu of $180,000 bail, said Sgt. Eren Stephens Bell, a police spokeswoman. He faces up to life in prison.
It wasn't immediately known if Riley had a lawyer.
