Bomb and WMD issues

I want to start off by saying thanks! Due to you, the readers, you’ve helped PoliceOne become the largest online resource for the Police Officer in the world. Thank you for your support. And, on a personal note, thanks to all those that have sent emails to me or the editor telling how you’ve used my articles to help yourself stay a little safer on Patrol. That’s what this column is all about for me.

This year promises to be a very informative one for you. In addition to how-to articles, tips on where to find equipment and grants, gear reviews, websites of interest, good places to get training and just plain straight talk, we hope to include some video on equipment in action, and video “how-to’s”. Every month, look no further than PoliceOne as your resource for news you can use on bombs and bombing issues, and the ever-present threat of Weapons of Mass Destruction.

Is there a specific topic you’d like to see covered? Your department getting ready to make a purchase, and want a neutral opinion? Drop me a line at srh@esper.com , and I’ll do what I can to answer your question. In fact, I am going to add a segment occasionally called the hoax corner, where I skewer the latest rumor or wives’ tale. Got one? Send it to me. Some responses will even make it into the monthly column.

Manufacturers and distributors – would you like an opportunity to have your item showcased in front of thousands of the most progressive Officers in the nation? Feel free to send me a sample for testing and evaluation. But BE WARNED BEFOREHAND – if your product is crap, that’s exactly what I am going to write. I’ll give you an opportunity privately to rectify problems, but the process will be reported to the troops – that’s who I and this webpage am here for.

Remember that some of these columns, in order to protect operational methodology or intelligence gathering, are restricted to sworn Law Enforcement only (they have the little handcuffs on them.) So, if you haven’t joined, now is a great time to start receiving all the benefits of being a member of the PoliceOne community including access to the tips area, the forums, and many other exciting features!

Before I close, remember grantees that your FY07 grants are due SOON!

Until next time!

-Shawn
