BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Three police officers were injured by “cop-hating mobs” outside Brooklyn housing projects early Sunday morning, according to the NY Post.

The report said some of the minor injuries suffered by the police officers were caused by “air mail,” or objects tossed from rooftops of the Marcy Houses in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

At least six gunshots were heard from the rooftop of the housing project, which caused police to run toward the gunfire, the report said.

Eight people have been arrested in connection with the melee, the report said.

Anger may have been sparked by cops earlier using pepper spray to disperse crowds who were gathered for “Marcy Day,” an annual celebration at the housing projects, residents told the Post.

The effects of the pepper-spray was captured on video posted to Instagram. The post depicts angry residents trying to flush the chemicals from their faces with milk.

The violence comes on the heels of a series of water dousing attacks on police across the city this summer.
