Some have criticized the three-hour period of time between the time Omar Mateen began his vicious terrorist attack on the Pulse nightclub in Orlando in June, but there were some very good reasons for the “delay” in the response. With the situation quickly shifting from an active shooter to a barricaded, armed subject with hostages, commanders had to shift tactics. Further, Mateen had claimed that he had explosive vests on some of the hostages, and that there were explosives stationed at other places in the nightclub. Jim and Doug discuss the incident, and why Orlando police did an excellent job in their response.
