DALLAS — Four Dallas officers were killed and seven more officers were shot after gunfire erupted during a march against police violence Thursday evening, sending crowds sprinting for safety.

Footage captured a barrage of gunfire and what appeared to be an officer lying on the ground.

Dallas Police Chief David Brown told reporters two snipers opened fire on officers, killing four and wounding at least seven more. A person of interest has turned himself in, according to the chief. A second suspect that engaged in a shootout with SWAT officers was also taken into custody. Police believe a bomb may have been planted at the scene and the DPD bomb squad is currently investigating.

Witnesses told CBS-DFW they heard as many as 30 shots go off in “rapid succession.”

No further information has been released.
