Video: Active-shooter response tactics

What’s the plan in your PD for responding to an active shooter situation? Do you have a policy or procedure which advises that you wait for four officers in order to make entry into wherever the shooting is taking place? If so, perhaps you’ll want to share this with the administration — most interruptions of active shooters have not been the result of four-officer (or more) team interdicting the problem. Most active shooters stopped by law enforcement in the act of shooting came about because just one or two officers took action. In this video tactical tip, PoliceOne Contributor Don Alwes discusses some of the things to keep in mind for a top-notch active-shooter response.
