NEW YORK — Police had ruled that the NYU dorm fire was the product of arson, but after reviewing 43,000 photos taken during the party, they’ve learned that it was actually an accident.

“After examining the evidence from the 25 iPhones, 15 BlackBerrys, 10 video cameras, and 40 digital cameras detained from the students who attended the party, we were able to reconstruct exactly what happened,” said Det. Ben Stadler of the NYPD.
