BARNESVILLE, Minn. — A 9-year-old girl traveled to the Barnesville police station, approached an officer, and told him her parents had a marijuana grow operation at their house.
The Pioneer Press reports the girl approached police June 6 after becoming concerned about the health of her dog after her parents’ daily use would fill the house with smoke — making her and her pet sick.
She also told officers the couple was regularly selling the pot to other individuals.
Police obtained a search warrant and the child was taken into protective custody, according to the report.
Police seized seven marijuana plants, baggies containing residue suspected to be methamphetamine, and a large amount of drug paraphernalia from the house.
“I’ve got to say, this girl is exceptionally brave,” said Barnesville police Officer Ryan Beattie, who took the girl’s report.
The child is currently in the care of relatives. Charges are pending against the parents.
