WEATHERFORD, Texas — Police pursued an unusual suspect Thursday morning after a steer escaped from a local butcher shop.
Police told NBCDFW that the animal led officers on a two-hour pursuit around the small town.
During the pursuit, an officer parked a patrol car to block the steer from heading into oncoming traffic. The animal rammed the driver’s side door. The officer was not injured.
Officials told the news station that two cowboys on horses came to their aid and were able to lasso the animal.
The butcher shop said they won’t process the animal right now because it’s suffering from stress after its escape. They are sending the steer to a ranch to recover.
No injuries or other damages were reported.
