ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The International Association of Chiefs of Police Foundation is accepting nominations for officers seriously injured in the line of duty to receive a financial donation. Nominations close September 2.
The police community is encouraged to tell the story of an officer who was injured in the line of duty in a way that seriously impacted their ability to do their job. The physical injury may have occurred at any time during the officer’s career, but they must still be alive and living with the effects of their injury.
Five officers who were injured during their career will be selected for a donation.
The officer must be willing to share their story through various communications including print, online and social media. The head of the recipient’s agency must also agree to the story being made public.
Nominations may be submitted by anyone associated with the nominee, such as a fellow officer, supervisor, family member or the injured officer themselves.
Eligibility for the nomination is open only to local, state, federal, and tribal U.S. officers below the rank of chief.
The deadline for submission is September 2. To submit a nomination, complete the online nomination form here.
