Video: UK officer thwarts armed raid, is up for award

Officer found three masked men who had attacked a security guard


GREATER MANCHESTER, United Kingdom — A policeman who was mowed down by masked robbers after thwarting an armed raid is being honoured in the annual Police Bravery Awards today.

Pc Gary Marshall, 48, is among 53 officers from forces across the country who have been invited to a lunch time reception at Downing Street before an awards ceremony in the City of London.

The married dad, who is based in Partington, was tutoring two community support officers, in October 20120, when he came across three masked men who had attacked a security guard delivering cash to Partington Leisure Centre in Trafford.
