Police Stop Taxiing Plane, Arrest Man For Murder of Girlfriend's Mom
MIAMI -- Police stopped a taxiing plane Sunday to arrest a man they say killed his ex-girlfriend's mother in Lee County, killed his ex-girlfriend and left her 4-year-old daughter in the airport parking lot.
Jason Nelson, 26, was arrested at Miami International Airport Sunday morning. The body of 21-year-old Robyn Golder was found in a wooded area by Miami-Dade Police about 4 a.m. Sunday, said Lee County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Ileana LiMarzi.
Golder's daughter was found unhurt and has been reunited with family in Lehigh Acres, where Golder's mother, 53-year-old Julie Halsmer, was found shot to death Saturday night. Lehigh Acres is about 110 miles northwest of Miami.
Nelson, who was on an American Airlines flight headed for the Turks and Caicos Islands, was being held in Miami pending murder charges, and was expected to be charged in Lee County with murder and possibly kidnapping.
Halsmer was found at home by another daughter, who informed police that the 4-year-old girl, who is not related to Nelson, and Golder were missing.
LiMarzi said it had not yet been determined when or where Golder was killed. She never showed up to work Saturday, she said.
