CHICAGO — A man already facing state charges that he pretended to be a police officer in Chicago was arrested today on federal charges he impersonated a U.S. marshal twice in 2013, prosecutors said.
Robert P. Rozycki, 37, was arrested this morning by U.S. marshals on charges he impersonated a marshal on March 3 and May 18, 2013, according to a release from the U.S. attorney’s office.
The indictment gives no details of how Rozycki, of Chicago, impersonated a marshal.
Court records show that Rozycki was arrested Sept. 28, 2012, after police say he was impersonating a police officer in the 3200 block of North Narragansett Avenue. He had been free on $35,000 bail, according to court records.
Rozycki has been arrested and pled guilty to several felony charges in the past, dating back to at least 1997, according to court records. He was sentenced to probation for impersonating a police officer in a 1995 case, and was sentenced to two years in prison on another charge of impersonation in a 1999 case, according to court records.
Rozycki was arraigned today, is scheduled for a detention hearing on Friday, according to a spokesman for the U.S. attorney’s office.
