MOBILE, Ala. — Investigators believe a man impersonating a police officer made a traffic stop Friday morning and fatally shot the victim.
Officers found David Patrick Kyles, 29, fatally shot at an intersection around 1:45 a.m. The car he was driving – a black 2002 Honda Accord – was nowhere to be found, according to AL.com.
“If you see the vehicle, it could be dangerous,” said Police Chief James Barber. “We ask that anyone who sees it stay away from it and call police.”
Witnesses told police a man wearing all black and a black mask driving a white Ford Crown Victoria pulled Kyles over at the intersection before the shooting.
The Crown Vic was found nearby and had a license plate tag that was reported stolen from a detective’s vehicle the same morning, according to the report.
