DAVENPORT, Iowa — A woman is contemplating a lawsuit against the officer she said beat her while she was questioned for shoplifting in February — a crime she admitted committing.

Brandie Redell told the Better Government Association the police attacked her when she was questioned about the thefts and injured her eye, according to NBC Chicago.

The officer, Scott Crow, said in his report he hit Redell because she bit his finger and wouldn't let go. Crow did face disciplinary action for the incident from the Davenport police, but remains on the force.

Crow was not criminally charged for a lack of evidence, according to the report.

Redell pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of shoplifting and has had two previous shoplifting convictions. Assault charges for causing injury to the officer were dropped.
