NASHVILLE — Country singer Craig Morgan will take the stage at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville on Aug. 19 to benefit the Spirit of Blue, a foundation which helps fund law enforcement agencies around the country.

A U.S. Army veteran with nearly two decades of service, Morgan returned home to his native Tennessee to pursue his passions: singing/songwriting and working as a Reserve Sheriff‘s Deputy in Dickson County.

It was his passion for law enforcement that led him to teaming up with Spirit of Blue as a celebrity spokesperson.

"I know firsthand the difficulties police officers face because of the lack of budget from the government  and I wanted to be involved," said Morgan.  "[Spirit of Blue] provides the resources to get police adequate equipment."

The Spirit of Blue Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to officer safety that works to fulfill safety equipment and training needs for officers.

Morgan, known for signature hits including "Wake Up Lovin’ You," "Redneck Yacht Club" and "That’s What I Love About Sunday," will perform August 19 in Nashville during a special law enforcement segment of the Opry. Proceeds from the event will go to locally awarded Safety Equipment Grant(s) for law enforcement agencies.

Morgan says he heard about the organization around the same time Spirit of Blue was looking for artists to perform for the Opry’s "Law Enforcement Appreciation Night."

“As a spokesperson for Spirit of Blue, my objective is to share the good work the organization is doing and toconvince other artists to participate [in future fundraising events] – I don’t want people getting tired of seeing me each time,” Morgan joked.

Aside from his work with Spirit of Blue, Morgan also serves as a spokesperson for multiple organizations that benefit service members and other first responders.

A national sweepstakes, the Grand Ole Opry Getaway, allows fans from across America to enter to win a trip to attend the event – go to Spiritofbluesweeps.com to enter or purchase tickets for the show at Opry.com. The Grand Ole Opry will donate $5.00 to Spirit of Blue for every ticket purchased using the promo code "SAFETY."
