JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — After a “long couple of days” responding to the “Madden NFL 19” gaming tournament shooting and aftermath, Jacksonville police received a brief respite Monday when NFL quarterback Blake Bortles served officers meals, according to Fox.

Along with members from his foundation, Bortles served police officers plates that included chicken, rolls and other hot food while they worked at Jacksonville Landing.

Bortles also wrote a note thanking the Jacksonville police.

“Thank you for everything you do!” the note read. “Your service today & everyday is greatly appreciated!”

The department responded on Twitter with thanks of their own.

“It’s been a long couple days and we are so appreciative for your kindness,” they tweeted.

Jacksonville officers rushed to assist Sunday afternoon when a man at a video game tournament shot and killed two other players.
