LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — An off-duty police officer was killed in a head-on crash Sunday night.
KATV.com reported that Jonesboro Police Department Officer Zachary Barton, 28, was driving southbound on a highway when another car traveling in the opposite direction crossed the center line and collided with Barton’s vehicle.
Barton and the other driver were killed in the crash. Barton’s wife, Elaina, was critically injured in the crash.
Police said weather conditions were clear when the crash occurred. Barton had just joined the department in March.
