Miss. constable dies following on-duty crash

VALDOSTA, Miss.  — A Mississippi constable succumbed to his injuries last week after he was involved in a crash.

According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, Constable Willie Houston “Hoot” West, 81, was serving civil papers when the crash occurred on May 6. 

West was transported to a local hospital where he died on May 9.

The constable is survived by his son and two daughters, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, mother, brother and two sisters.
