Texas LEO dies of heart attack

KINNEY COUNTY, Texas – A deputy died after suffering a heart attack at the scene of a vehicle fire.

According to ODMP, 47-year-old Deputy Sheriff Jose Luis Blancarte was directing traffic at the fire scene and fell ill.

He became unresponsive as he was transported to a local hospital, where he died Friday.

Blancarte was a 20-year veteran of the Kinney County Sheriff's Office and is survived by his wife and four kids.
