A constable with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police was killed in a single-vehicle crash near Wilkie

WILKIE, Saskatchewan — A constable with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police was killed when his patrol car struck a moose on Highway 14 early Friday.

The collision happened at approximately 2 a.m. near Wilkie, according to the Officer Down Memorial Page. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Derek Pineo had served with the RCMP for five years.
