McCAMEY, Texas — An Upton County sheriff's deputy was killed in a shootout with a suspect at a convenience store Wednesday night.

Billy "Bubba" Kennedy, 38, came in contact with a man who has not yet been identified, and shots were fired, according to News West 9.

The suspect is in custody and is being treated for gunshot wounds. Texas Rangers are investigating the details of the shooting.
