LAKELAND, Fla. — The Lakeland Police Department is heartbroken over the loss of one of its officers, the department said Thursday in a Facebook post.
Officer Ken Foley was found unresponsive in his patrol vehicle Wednesday after dispatch was unable to contact him via radio, according to the post.
Police believe that Foley suffered a medical episode while on break sitting in his car.
Foley, 57, served with the department for 29 years.
“Please keep Officer Foley’s family and all those who loved him in your thoughts and prayers,” the post reads. “Many people are grieving this huge loss to our agency and our community.”
