INDIAN HEAD, Md. — A U.S. Navy Police sergeant died in a car crash early Wednesday morning while on patrol. 

WJZ reports Sgt. Anthony Oglesby, Jr., 34, was driving a marked patrol car when he drove off the right side of the road for and struck a tree, which fell on his car and caused the vehicle to catch fire. 

He was pronounced dead at the scene and the cause of the crash is unknown, WJZ reports. The Maryland State Police Crash Team is investigating.
