JACKSON, Tenn. — A highway patrol trooper was killed in a crash Monday while responding to a call.
According to local news station WSMV, 24-year-old Trooper Matthew Gatti was responding to a call when his vehicle slid into the back of a tractor trailer. He then spun out of control and hit another tractor trailer.
Gatti was pronounced dead at the scene.
The trooper would have been with his department for a year in June.
“He was an outstanding young man at 24-years-old and carried himself way more mature than a 24-year-old would,” said Captain Jimmie Johnson.
