SEABROOK, NH — A Seabrook man faces felony charges after leading state and local police on a two-state chase that included ramming a New Hampshire state trooper’s cruiser early Saturday morning according to law enforcement officials.
Dustin Claar, 27 is currently in the Rockingham County House of Correction awaiting his arraignment Tuesday in Rockingham County Superior Court on a felony reckless conduct charge and state police officials stress additional charges are likely.
This wild arrest scene started just before 1 a.m. Saturday when State Trooper George Sanborn responded to the report of a 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 striking a residential mailbox and refusing to stop for a Seabrook police officer.
While Sanborn and a local cop were talking with the property owner, Claar sped past them in that Dodge Ram truck, state police officials said.
They first searched without success the area around Locus Street in Seabrook.
While Trooper Sanborn was traveling east on Black Snake Road, Claar emerged from a driveway in his truck and rammed the trooper’s 2013 Dodge Charger again before speeding away, officials said.
Seabrook police lost sight of Claar as he drove into Amesbury, Mass. but a short time later a Salisbury, Mass. police officer saw Claar’s truck and the pursuit resumed.
After coming back into the state of New Hampshire, Claar lost control of the truck and crashed on Route 107.
Claar then fled on foot, officials said.
Trooper Sanborn deployed his dog “Scout” to track the suspect and a short time later the canine found Claar hiding in a nearby barn, officials said.
Claar was arrested without further incident.
