Slain Phoenix cop’s family, colleagues visit Oval Office for Police Week

WASHINGTON — The family of an officer killed in the line of duty were honored in the Oval Office Monday by President Trump.

The Phoenix Police Department accompanied the family of Officer David Glasser to the White House where they met Trump, KSAZ reported.

Glasser was fatally shot on May 19, 2016 while responding to a call about a son stealing guns from his father, according to the Associated Press. The gunman was killed when police returned fire.

Glasser’s wife, Kristen, and her two children, Micah and Eden, received a front row seat as Trump signed a proclamation making Monday Peace Officers Memorial Day. They also attended the memorial service where Trump vowed to reduce violence against police officers.

The department shared on Twitter that Micah walked away with a hat Trump tossed to him during the address.
