SOUTH WHITTIER, Calif. – Video captured three good Samaritans rushing to aid a sheriff’s deputy who was struggling with a suspect trying to take his gun.
According to KTLA, the LEO responded to a report of a suspicious person Sunday when the incident occurred.
When the deputy approached the suspect, the suspect swung at the deputy and a fight ensued. As the two struggled on the ground, the suspect tried to pull the deputy’s gun from its holster. That’s when three civilians rushed in to help.
“With the assistance of the Samaritans, the deputy handcuffed the suspect,” LASD Deputy Eric Ortiz told KTLA.
The deputy was treated for minor injuries and the suspect was taken into custody.
