CANTON, Miss. – Two deputies were shot Thursday after responding to a domestic call, leaving one of them fighting for their life.
According to The Clarion Ledger, LEOs responded to the call of a possible hostage situation Thursday morning at a home. Upon arrival, the suspect exited the home and fled in a vehicle.
Gunfire erupted after the ensuing pursuit ended with the suspect crashing his vehicle. Two deputies and the suspect were hit. One deputy was shot in the head and airlifted to a hospital. The deputy was in critical condition and needed multiple surgeries, according to the report.
The suspect was also taken to a hospital.
