CINCINNATI — An Ohio judge has ordered a hospital to provide a slain man’s medical records to the attorney for a former University of Cincinnati police officer who fatally shot the man after a traffic stop.

Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge Megan Shanahan on Wednesday granted the defense motion for records about Samuel DuBose, including for treatment July 3-7 of last year. The 43-year-old DuBose was shot July 19.

Ray Tensing faces trial Oct. 24 on charges of murder and voluntary manslaughter.

Tensing’s attorney, Stewart Mathews, says he has received information that DuBose was suffering from a medical condition that could be significant to the case.

Mathews has said Tensing feared being dragged under the car as DuBose tried to drive away after the stop near campus for a missing front license plate.
