SACHSE, Texas – Video captured the dramatic rescue of a police officer overcome by floodwaters.
CBS-DFW reports an officer with the Sachse Police Department had parked his vehicle in order to block traffic from driving down the street.
Flood waters suddenly stranded the officer. After attempts to rescue the officer via hovercraft and firetruck failed due to the strength of the currents and the continually rising water, a police helicopter was called in.
The officer was airlifted and hung from the helicopter for several miles before he was dropped in a safe location, according to the report.
