LITTLETON, Colo. — Three dogs were rescued by firefighters and animal control after they broke out of their backyard and into a storm drain.

9News reported that three bull mastiffs, Oso, Max and Daisy, were later found stuck in a storm drain.

Animal Control Officer C. Hubrecht and West Metro Fire Rescue responded to the call and worked together to free the three dogs.

“There were people looking down at the storm drain and I said that doesn’t happen to be a dog down there does it? And sure enough all three mastiffs were down there,” the dogs’ owner Lynn Drum said.

Drum added that this was not the first time one of the dogs had been stuck in the drain. Previously, Daisy had to be rescued from the drain by Drum’s husband.

After the rescue, Officer Hubrecht spoke with Drum about licensing the dogs, which she did on the spot.

“We’re happy this story had a happy ending for everyone. And whether you have four legs or two, we’ll be here if you need us,” the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.
