On Jan. 2 police were initially called to reports of a vehicle driving erratically. Officer Cody Lamielle spotted the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The driver, Darlene Richmond, told him she was having mechanical difficulties. Lamielle spotted smoke and flames coming from under the hood and was able to get the driver and her elderly mother to safety.

Texas police rescue driver wedged underneath 18-wheeler–
Tyler police said the driver of the pickup was unresponsive and pinned in the vehicle underneath the 18-wheeler. Officers fought the fire with fire extinguishers and were able to keep it under control long enough to remove the driver from the vehicle. Evans was transported to ETMC with significant injuries. The 18-wheeler driver was not injured.

Four officers saved a man after his car flipped and caught fire. Officers pulled Luis Carlos Aloma, 21, to safety. He is in critical condition, but is expected to survive.
