BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The Brooklyn district attorney dropped all criminal charges Monday against the man whose arrest led to allegations of police brutality, according to the New York Times.
Police arrested Ehud Halevy, 21, after receiving a 911 call about a drunk, shirtless man in the women’s section of a Jewish youth center this month. The video of the arrest showed Halevy enter a heated exchange with the officers, who said he threatened to hit them.
Halevy was seen in the clip pushing the officers, which resulted in charges of assaulting a police officer, trespassing, resisting arrest and harassment in connection with the incident.
On Monday DA Charles J. Hynes informed Halevv’s lawyer, Norman Siegel, of his decision to drop the charges.
Siegel said he and his client were “very pleased.”
Hynes did not say whether he would take any action against the officers, citing an ongoing investigation, according to Siegel.
A court hearing is scheduled for Wednesday morning.
