TOPEKA, Kan. — An officer took an unexpected dive while searching for suspects.
Officer Aaron Bulmer was on the lookout for people involved in a fight Monday when he noticed a four-year-old walking close to a pond by himself, WIBW reported.
When he exited his patrol car to speak to the boy, the child fell in. Bulmer sprung into action and jumped into the pond to save the boy. Officers told CBS12 they discovered after the incident the boy had autism and his parents were searching for him at the time.
The child was taken to a local hospital for an evaluation. He was returned to his parents to recover at home, according to WIBW.
