TARRANT, Ala. — An Alabama officer is receiving high praise after an act of kindness caught on camera.

Al.com reports Officer William Stacy was called to a Dollar General store Saturday after employees reported a woman shoplifting.

When Stacey arrived, the woman, who had kids in her vehicle, explained she had taken the eggs to feed her children.

Stacey offered to pay for the eggs if the woman promised to no longer shoplift.

"Police officers do this all the time. Of course, these are the kind of stories that never get told," Tarrant Police Chief Dennis Reno told Al.com. “Every police officer in Jefferson County has done this at one point in time."

Stacey purchased the eggs and spoke with Dollar General, who decided not to press charges.

The exchange, captured on cell phone video by another customer, was posted to Facebook and immediately went viral.
