WASHINGTON — Robbers picked the wrong time to commit a crime in D.C. this week.

According to St. Louis Today, six men attempted to rob a victim in front of officers during Police Week, where thousands of officers meet to honor their fallen comrades.

The suspects shoved a man to the ground and stole his iPhone X, then hit him multiple times. They attempted to take his backpack before an off-duty New Jersey officer stepped in, yelling at the men to stop.

The officer ran after the suspects and managed to apprehend one of the suspects.

Five members of the St. Louis County Police Pipes and Drums unit assisted the New Jersey officer with bringing the suspect under control.

The St. Louis officers, Det. David Sandbach, retired Sgt. Dan Steele, Officer Chris Steib, Det. John Spicer and Lt. Juan Gomez, and New Jersey Officer Jordan Kostoplis held the suspect until patrol officers arrived to the scene.
