GAITHERSBURG, Md. — An officer is being praised for saving an injured bald eagle, The Washington Post reported.
Montgomery County police received a call on March 3 from drivers who saw the eagle get struck by a car as it was eating a deer carcass.
Officer Jennifer Gill responded to the call and was told by witnesses the eagle had wandered off into the woods. Gill was able to locate the eagle with “an injury that prevented it from flying.”
Gill wrapped the eagle in towels and put her in a carrier with help of Maryland Natural Resources Police Officer Danny Thomas.
Gill named the eagle “Trust.”

Trust was taken to an animal center where an examination concluded she had suffered a “soft-tissue injury.” The center posted on Facebook Trust was “on her feet, resting comfortably and a little brighter.”
Once Trust is examined by an animal hospital, she will be released into the wild. The entire process could take upwards of two months.
