SAN DIEGO — Two San Diego officers delivered a stove they purchased out-of-pocket to a family in need.
According to CBS 8, Officers Rivas and Castro pooled their own money to purchase the stove for a family living in poor conditions.
“Our motto is Protect and Serve. It’s on our police vehicles and we want to show the serving part is there to protect, but we’re there to serve in so many other ways,” Officer Ricardo Rivas told CBS 8.
The officers met the family during their patrol, according to the San Diego Police Department’s Facebook page.
Officer Rivas also invited the family to a community Thanksgiving dinner organized by him and church groups. He is reportedly working with outreach programs to improve the family’s living conditions.
