GRIFFIN, Ga. — Body camera footage captured an officer’s race against time to rescue a boy from a house fire.

According to ABC News, Sgt. Joe Hudson rushed into the home March 16 to remove the 3-year-old from the home quickly filling with smoke and flames.

“I got a little panicked for a second,” Hudson told ABC News. “The smoke was so thick so I grabbed clothes off the bed and put them in front of my face.”

The officer found the boy lying on a bed and safely removed him from the residence.

Hudson reportedly calmed the panicked child by placing his glasses on the boy’s head, which garnered a laugh.

Hudson told the news organization he wanted to speak on the rescue to bring attention to the many things cops do every day to aid their communities.
