MARIETTA, Ga. — A Georgia police officer is being hailed a hero after video captured him saving the life of a choking baby.

WAGA-TV reported that a grandmother called 911 on the evening of May 15 after 2-month-old Zeona started choking while feeding on a bottle. Marietta Officer Nick St. Onge arrived and called paramedics as Zeona’s mother cried while watching her baby in distress.

St. Onge applied chest compressions and back blows on the baby, who was unresponsive for some time. After several minutes of “sheer terror,” St. Onge was able to dislodge whatever was blocking Zeon’s airway.

“I heard that first half-cry and I was like, thank, God,” St. Onge said.

St. Onge credited both his military and police training for knowing how to revive the infant.

“I’m happy to be one of those officers in the right place at the right time,” he said.

Zeona was treated and released from a hospital and is doing just fine, her mother Cianna Stovall said. Stovall said she was overjoyed and thanked the officer.

“Thank God, thank you, my baby is okay,” she said.
