BUENA VISTA, Va. — Recently released body cam footage shows an officer pulling a dog trapped in a house fire to safety.

On Sunday, Buena Vista Officers Jacob Moore and Lt. Rand Chittum were the first to respond to a house fire engulfing a couple’s home, WDBJ reports. Moore was able to get a woman out to safety before she told the officer her husband and dog, Zoey, were still in the home.

“The smoke was so heavy I got down on the floor at one point and started beating the floor, screaming for the dog. I hit the wall so the dog started barking,” Moore said.

Moore was able to take the frightened canine to safety. Moore and Chittum later grabbed hoses and helped the fire department control the fire.

The officer was able to get everyone out before anyone got hurt, according to WSLS.
