TAZEWELL, Va. — The Tazewell County Sheriff’s office promoted their upcoming 2019 “Hot Cops Calendar” with a comedic video posted on their Facebook page on Wednesday morning.

The video, featuring Deputy Landon Hieatt and Cpl. Glen Keen brainstorming ideas for a fundraiser. They decide to wash a car to the tune of “Pour Some Sugar on Me” by Def Leppard before being interrupted by Tazewell County Sheriff, Brian Hieatt reminding them of the calendar.

This is the second year that the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Department has produced their “Hot Cops Calendar” as a fundraiser for their Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program.

“We did this last year and the reason we are doing it is to raise money for the D.A.R.E. program and we saw a lot of places around the nation do a calendar like that and we have a lot of people that are good to volunteer their time to be a part of it,” Sheriff Hieatt said.

Sheriff Hiett said the video and the calendar allow the community to see another side to law enforcement, to show their “human side.”

“We wanted to try to get people to know it is coming out because people were the calendar so we decided to do a funny promotional video,” Sheriff Hiett said. “Last year was the first year we did it, and it went really well and we sold almost every calendar.”

Hieatt’s son, a deputy at the Sheriff’s Department Landon Hieatt, filmed, produced and starred in the video.

“His (Landon Hieatt) hobby is filming and doing videos and he has done several for us and so he decided to do this video and he made it all up and did the filming himself to let people know the calendar was coming,” Sheriff Hieatt said. “This year we have different people than what we had last time but these are all sworn officers with the department and they vary in ages,” Hieatt said.

The calendar costs $10 and will be available at local supermarkets, businesses and convenience store. Hieatt said a full list will be posted on their Facebook page when the calendars are available.
