Additional Information

Candidates must meet the following job qualifications to receive consideration for the position of Police Officer: • 21 years of age at the date of the written examination • Citizen of the United States of America • High school degree or its equivalent • No felony convictions • No illegal drug possession or use outside departmental policy • Driving record that meets the City’s insurance requirements • Appropriate, valid driver’s license upon application • 20/200 visual acuity, correctable to 20/20 in both eyes • Ability to visually recognize and distinguish colors, normal peripheral vision and normal depth perception • Ability to distinguish sounds encompassing a full range of tones and volumes Benefits include: • Minimum-starting salary of $37,764; Consideration given for experience • Uniforms and Equipment furnished • Health Coverage for employees and additional coverage for dependents • Life Insurance at 5 times officer’s annual salary • Dental Coverage for employee and additional coverage for dependents • Long Term Disability • Vacation Leave of 10 days per year • Personal Days of 3 per year and 8 Holidays per year • Tuition Reimbursement Plan • Employee Assistance Plan • A Non-Contributory Retirement Plan; 100% vested after 10 years. *Bilingual incentive pay
