MISSION OF POLICE RESERVE PROGRAM The purpose of the Police Officer Reserve Program shall be to cooperate with, assist, and augment the duly constituted Police Department of the City of South Lake Tahoe, El Dorado County, and State of California. In addition, the purpose is to recruit, train, equip, and otherwise prepare suitable candidates to become regular City of South Lake Tahoe Officers and to recruit honorably retired officers who will be beneficial to the Department. Under orders and direction of the Chief of Police, Reserve Unit members shall render police services upon occasion, when such augmentation to the regular department is essential to the public welfare and safety. Unit members shall also assist in enforcement of law and order during any and all emergencies declared to exist within the City of South Lake Tahoe by the Chief of Police.

OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Minimum age requirement of 20 years. Ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful performance of duties and completion of training. Ability to learn and perform work involved in operating and maintaining police vehicles, equipment, and tools. Reside within boundaries as established by the City of South Lake Tahoe. Possession of and ability to maintain a valid California or Nevada Driver’s License.
