The Kotzebue Police Department is currently accepting applications for police officer (lateral or basic entry). We have four open positions in the patrol division. Our department STRONGLY prefers lateral or currently certified police officers.
The patrol division works a two week on/off schedule (and the employee also receives generous vacation time) and each officer can take six weeks off once a year. There is NO state or local residency requirement and the successful applicant can live outside of the state and commute to work. The department provides rotational housing for only $200 a month.
Uncertified applicants will start at $28.04 per hour (2340 hours a year, including holidays, whether worked or not). Certified or lateral applicants will start at a higher rate.
The department provides all uniforms and equipment, except boots.

The applicant must by at least 21-year old, have a high school diploma or GED, possess or be capable of obtaining an Alaska Driver's License and pass an extensive background investigation, to include truth verification test, psychological exam and upon offer of employment, a medical exam. Further, the applicant must be able to meet the minimal standards for police officer as set out in 13AAC85.010.
