Job Description

The Auburn Police Department is actively seeking highly qualified police officers certified by NYS DCJS interested in lateral transfer opportunities. With several current vacancies, we are looking to immediately except lateral transfers to ensure that our community does not experience a loss of service they have come to expect from our police department.

The mission of the Auburn Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in the City of Auburn by working cooperatively with the citizenry to enforce the laws, preserve the peace, and provide for a safe environment.

Additional Information

The following qualifications must be met by all active law enforcement personnel wishing to apply for lateral transfer to the Auburn Police Department. ++You must:++

· Must meet the City of Auburn’s Civil Service Requirements

· Current Appointment must have been from a valid NYS Civil Service List as a Police Officer

· Must have successfully completed the New York State DCJS Basic Course for Police Officers or be certified Police Officer by NYS DCJS

· Have successfully completed a one (1) year probationary period

· Have a clean service record

· Be subject to a condensed FTO Program

· Submit to a complete background investigation

· Must have a valid New York State Driver’s License

  • Education: HS Diploma or GED
  • Experience: Must have completed the New York State DCJS Basic Course for Police Officers or be certified Police Officer by NYS DCJS • Have successfully completed (1) year probationary period

The following qualifications must be met by all active law enforcement personnel wishing to apply for lateral transfer to the Auburn Police Department. ++You must:++

· Must meet the City of Auburn’s Civil Service Requirements

· Current Appointment must have been from a valid NYS Civil Service List as a Police Officer

· Must have successfully completed the New York State DCJS Basic Course for Police Officers or be certified Police Officer by NYS DCJS

· Must have a valid New York State Driver’s License

Please note: Based on an opinion rendered by the New York State Department of Civil Service, the Auburn Police Department is unable to accept lateral transfers from the following categories of police officers:

-Part-time Police Officers of New York State ** -Any Police Officer outside of New York State** ** -New York State Troopers** ** -New York City Police Officers**
