The Police Forensic Computer Examiner classification provides support to the Investigative Services Division and the Uniform Services Division in the collection and processing of various types of electronic evidence; preserves and analyzes data from electronic data sources, including laptop and desktop computers, mobile devices and other sources of audio and video; and performs related duties as required.
Essential Functions Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following tasks: •Preserves, collects, and processes electronic data according to all applicable policies, best practices, and law •Researches and maintains proficiency in tools, techniques, and trends in digital forensic analysis •Assists the investigative and patrol staff in the identification, collection and analysis of all types of electronic evidence including audio and video material, as well as electronically stored data. •Conducts examinations of digital evidence and assists with the preparation of electronic evidence for courtroom presentation. •Performs forensic analysis of cell phone and other mobile devices. •Ensures that audio and video evidence is collected in a manner that maintains its integrity and a proper chain of custody. •Assists investigators in the review of audio and video evidence and other electronically stored evidence as needed. •Assists with maintaining and monitoring the forensic server and Computer Crimes network. •Utilizes forensic techniques and forensic toolsets such as X-Way, Forensic Tool Kit (FTK), Internet Evidence Finder (IEF), Recon for Mac, Carbon, Tableau write-blockers and imagers, Cellebrite and other cell phone forensic tools. •Collaborates with legal department and Public Information Officer to edit and redact relevant audio and video evidence for public dissemination, and courtroom presentation when needed. •Utilizes specialized equipment to process and clarify audio and video data files.
Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience: •Bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution in Computer Science or closely related field. •Two years of work experience in computer forensics, mobile forensics, forensic audio/video analysis, or a related discipline. •An equivalent combination of education and job related experience may substitute for the educational requirements on a year-for-year basis. •Preferred: ◦International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists (IACIS) Certification. ◦SANS Windows Forensic Analysis FOR500 Global Information Assurance Certification in Computer Forensic Examination (GCFE). ◦Certified Forensic Video Analyst (CFVA), Certified Forensic Video Technician (CFVT) from the LEVA International, Inc. ◦Forensic Video Certification from International Association for Identification (IAI). ◦Certified Computer Examiner (CCE) from the International Society of Forensic Computer Examiners. ◦EnCase Certified Examiner program (EnCE). ◦Basic Computer Examination and Recover Training (BCERT) from National Computer Forensic Institute (NCFI). ◦Cellebrite Certified Mobile Examiner (CCME). Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements: •Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted Arizona driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date. Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/department/service assignment.
